Senior Staff
Three members of the Franklin Associates staffBill Franklin,
Marge Franklin, and Bob Hunthave been providing environmental
consulting services since 1975; each has decades of experience in
life cycle and/or solid waste management. Most other members of
the senior staff have at least 10 years of experience in those fields.
William E. (Bill) Franklin has been
an innovator and leader in the fields of solid waste management
and life cycle analysis for more than 30 years. In the early 1970s,
he co-developed the Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) methodology and researched
and wrote some of the first reports quantifying solid waste generation
and management. He has worked continuously in both fields ever since,
managing scores of projects for both governmental and private clients.
Mr. Franklin is well known both nationally and internationally.
He has made many presentations and published dozens of papers during
his distinguished career.
Marjorie A. (Marge) Franklin has nearly
30 years of experience in solid waste management, particularly in
the areas of waste characterization and recycling. Ms. Franklin
is well known for her pioneering work in waste characterization
using a materials balance methodology. While much of her work has
been for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Ms. Franklin
has also worked extensively with many state, local, and private
clients. Ms. Franklin has written extensively on solid waste management
topics and has made numerous presentations to large and small audiences.
Robert G. (Bob) Hunt acts as the principal
advisor on science and life cycle methodology to Franklin Associates'
technical staff. A founding member of Franklin Associates, he co-developed
the Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) methodology with Bill Franklin in
the 1970s. Mr. Hunt is also well known nationally and internationally,
and is recognized as a world leader on LCI methodology.
Beverly J. (Bev) Sauer is a project
manager and senior chemical engineer specializing in Life Cycle
Assessment (LCA), Life Cycle Inventory (LCI), and Life Cycle Management
(LCM). Her primary responsibilities are managing, conducting, and
reviewing LCI and LCM projects. In her 14 years of experience in
this field at Franklin Associates, she has managed a wide array
of complex life cycle projects.
Shelly H. Schneider is a project manager
and senior environmental scientist in solid waste management with
13 years of experience in the field. Ms. Schneider has extensive
experience in economic analysis of waste management alternatives
and in waste characterization. Her clients have ranged from the
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to state, regional, and local
government agencies.
Melissa Huff is a project manager and
senior chemical engineer specializing in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
and Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) projects. She has 13 years of experience
at Franklin Associates, and has served as project manager on many
LCI/LCA projects. Her expertise includes data gathering, research,
technical writing, and computer modeling. She is familiar with the
entire Franklin Associates database and is expert at using the LCI
models.
James Littlefield is a chemical engineer
at Franklin Associates, and his work centers on Life Cycle Inventory
(LCI) and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). His principal responsibilities
include researching industrial processes, performing material and
energy balances, and preparing written documentation for processes.
Mr. Littlefield is a key staff member on the team developing the
U.S. LCI database.
